a.) Full of junky chemicals
b.) Irritating to my dry, raw, inflamed skin
c.) Super expensive
d.) All of the above
I searched high and low for a lotion that felt like it was actually moisturizing and nourishing my skin, that wasn’t simultaneously suffocating my skin cells with petrochemicals or slowly giving me a hormonal imbalance.
My sister introduced me to this lotion recipe, and I love love love love love it.
As a massage therapist, I spend a good portion of my day covered in lotion up to my elbows, and on top of that I am constantly moisturizing to combat my dry skin, so I felt like it was important to take a closer look at what sort of chemicals I was constantly covering myself with. I now use this for all of my massage clients, and they love it! It doesn’t leave them feeling sticky the way oil does, and it doesn’t have any of the gross chemicals most massage lotions have. win-win.
This lotion recipe is awesome because it’s fairly inexpensive to make, it’s incredibly moisturizing, and it’s super versatile.
-For eczema: Use this after a bath instead of petrolatum based products.
-For psoriasis: Add a few drops of melaleuca/tea tree oil to make this a therapeutic lotion.
-Pregnant mamas can use it on their baby bumps without worrying about chemical exposure.
-All humans can use it on whatever bumps they’d like without worrying about chemical exposure. ;)
